Fire Prevention Safety Tips

October is Fire Prevention Month and we here at Paul Davis Restoration of Lincoln, NE have put together some safety tips regarding fires in the home aimed at helping kids understand the dangers of fire and how to avoid getting hurt in the event of a fire. In addition, we’re doing a kids’ coloring contest in cooperation with the Lincoln Children’s Museum!

First, here are the safety tips:

  • Stay away from things that can burn you, such as matches, lighters, and a hot stove.
  • Know the sound of the smoke alarm in your home.
  • Help grown-ups test smoke alarms every month
  • Make and practice a family fire escape plan.
  • Know two ways out of every room.
  • In case of a fire, get out fast and stay out!
  • Crawl low under smoke.
  • If your clothes are on fire, STOP, DROP, and ROLL. Cover your face with your hands.
  • Never be afraid of firefighters in gear.
  • Never touch a fire
  • If there is a fire feel the door before you open it. Do NOT touch the door handle if the door is hot.
  • Never hide during a fire.
  • To report a fire, dial 9-1-1 on the phone

Now go check out our coloring contest and get your entry in by the deadline!
